Backstory

Reina Hysa was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She lived with her mother Monika and didn't know her father.At 6 years old though, she learned why as a result of her development of inhuman traits and powers. Her father, Luan Magnus, was a vampire and had intended to sacrifice the both of them after Reina's birth hence why her mother left her home country Albania.Now knowing that she was a dhampir, her mother suggested that Reina be enrolled in an education program run by a special government agency, the Bureau of Deviations, where there'd be students of nonhuman origins like herself in attendance. She agreed and began attending as a boarding student at their Washington D.C. location. Reina and her mother lived a quiet life up until the former turned 17, tragedy striking the Hysa household one winter afternoon.Returning home for winter break, Reina witnessed her mother being attacked by who she eventually realized was her father. Her mother succumbed to her injuries while protecting Reina. She tried to kill her father with a silver-lined daggar her mother had gifted her at a young age, but she failed resulting in her father disappearing into the night.Not long after her mother's death, Reina made an attempt at her own life though a Bureau personnel discovered her in time to save her.Determined to avenge her mother's death, Reina joined the Bureau's training academy straight out of high school and eventually was recruited to be part of the Supernatural and Mythological Unknowns: Tactical Unit (S.M.U.T. Unit) at 22.

Backstory

There is no official record as to where Luke Mitchell was born. At 7 months old, he was left at the front door of an orphanage in Lakewood, Colorado with partially torn and/or redacted health records (most likely for the purpose of preventing his parent(s) from being tracked down) to indicate that he'd been born in the U.S. and had been taken care of up until that point.Luke remained at the orphanage until he was 18 and struggled to make a living, working odd jobs that never lasted long until he landed a security gig at a nearby ski resort years later. But at 31, he was hospitalized after he was severely attacked by a wolf who'd been reported to be lingering around the ski slopes.What he didn't realize was that this was no ordinary wolf, only learning this revelation when a government agent with the Bureau of Deviations approached him when he'd been discharged. They offered assistance in his accustoming of his new life as a werewolf but he thought they were spewing nonsense so he immediately rejected the offer.But after shapeshifting into a gray wolf for the first time during a full moon and attacking civilians, Luke reluctantly agreed to receive the agency's help. The Bureau helped him relocate to Mythos, Michigan to teach him how to control himself as a wolf and to hone his shapeshifting skills.After years of training, Luke became the team leader of the S.M.U.T. Unit at the age of 35. Though he was quite the headache for HQ because of his unconventional tendencies and occasional disobedience, his high rate in successful missions allowed him to continue leading the team.But during a mission to capture a basilisk, Luke disobeyed the Bureau's order to wait for backup which led to immense collateral damage and his immediate demotion as team leader when he was 44.
